Help to plan the most cost-effective renewal of their pipe networks.
Pipe renewal helps municipalities and other pipe owners to plan the most cost-effective renewal of their pipe networks. The software solution also analyses the likelihood of adverse events and the impact of these events. Such events could be leaks and pipe fractures, infiltration into sewer pipes, clogging of sewer pipes and discharge of untreated wastewater.
“Mapping, planning including the optimum choice of renewal method, and not least budgeting are major parts of our solution. We have developed algorithms to calculate costs for various renovation/renewal methods and implemented them in the analysis tool. This has great value for users,” says the product manager for the solution, Asle Kvam.
In the past, municipalities and public-sector organisations often used external consultants to calculate costs associated with pipe renewal and other maintenance tasks. Now they can save these costs with the software solution from Powel, and it is easy to run the analyses several times over.
“For each pipe, a status character between 1 and 5 is calculated. This is an expression of the risk of adverse events. The result provides a good basis for deciding which pipes to be prioritised for renovation or renewal. It also provides the municipality with good plans for short-term investments and long-term priorities,” says Kvam.
Powel is experiencing great international interest in the product which has customers both in Norway and abroad.
