The application is mainly used to warn of faults and defects in municipal water and sewage systems. This could include notice of breakages and interruptions to the water supply.
Inform the citizens of incidents or other important issues
“Powel Notification has a user-friendly design which makes it easy for municipal employees to inform the citizens of incidents or other important issues. This can be done efficient from the office desk or from field operations. Powel Notification improves the level of service to the public, as well as internal communication within the municipality. Everyone gets the same information and it can be distributed within seconds. This saves the municipalities a lot of time,” says the product manager for Powel Notification, Atle Vaaland.
Around 70 Norwegian municipalities are using Powel Notification today and more and more are implementing the web application. It can be used for almost all kind of notifications and information from the municipality.
Automatically retrieves contact information for every resident
“Powel Notification was used to warn of a big bike race in Stavanger. The municipality had to close several roads for the race, and it was therefore important to inform residents of possible queues and detours,” says Vaaland.
The Notification service automatically retrieves contact information for every resident from national contact and reservation registers such as Altinn and DigiPost, producing a high hit rate when contacting residents by text, email or voicemail. It is also easy to get a complete overview of your active and historical notifications in the log.
“The application is designed to work equally well on mobile phones as PCs. The solution also includes intelligent templates, which prompt for area, date, and start and end times. That means you can confidently send out notifications wherever you are,” he says.
Powel Notification is closely integrated with several of the products within Powel Environment; for example, notifications can be sent out directly from Gemini Portal.
“The solution shows who has been notified and who has not received the notification. It is also possible to notify business partners and owners of commercial buildings. The aim is that as many as possible of those involved get notified,” Vaaland concludes.
It is easy to implement Powel Notification and extend it with new users. A dedicated training mode allows employees to practise before they send out their first notice.
