This includes both databases built in Powel’s own solution Gemini VA and NIS/GIS from other vendors.
“Logical errors are documented and sent to the system administrator. Water and wastewater objects with logical errors are also displayed as map layers in a user-friendly web application. These map layers can also be displayed in Gemini Portal,” says the product owner at Powel, Asle Kvam.
The solution can perform automatic correction of several types of errors, including geometry errors for pipes. The analysis runs as a scheduled automatic routine, so errors are reported (and corrected) soon after they appear in the database. This contributes to stable and good data quality in Gemini VA.
“The tool improves the quality of the data, which in turn improves planning, operation, renewal and maintenance of the pipe network,” says Kvam.
Saving costs for the municipality
It is hard work to analyse the water and drainage network manually.
“Our Data Quality Analysis solution makes it much easier to run analyses, so the tool lowers the threshold for conducting such analyses internally within the municipalities. There is also less need to pay for consultancy hours to correct data errors,” says Kvam.
