The software solution helps municipalities and water utilities follow up private infrastructure and systems that are either connected to public water and wastewater networks, or where they are a regulatory body.
Private Infrastructure is a solution portfolio for owners of water and wastewater networks which, in Norway, are municipalities and water utilities.
Control the private network
“They need control over who is connected to the water and wastewater network, what type of equipment is connected and where in the network it is connected. Private Infrastructure simplifies the work of documentation and follow up for the municipalities,” says Ståle Johannessen, product manager for Private Infrastructure at Powel.
There are several reasons why owners of water and wastewater networks want to have control of private systems. They want to ensure that no damage – such as blockages or contamination – is caused to the public network. They also require a good system for follow up and quality assurance.
Simplifying and automating work processes
"The public sector can stipulate requirements on the private sector for the protection of the water and wastewater network. It is also a regulatory body for instance to the cabin owners, who pay a fee to have their septic tanks emptied. These are not always connected to the pipeline network but nonetheless must be mapped and followed up,” says Johannessen.
Private Infrastructure offers support to all phases associated with private systems such as establishment, operational reporting, invoicing, follow up, replacement and termination. The solution offers a variety of specialist modules with different clients and solutions for different users.
“We are strongly focused on simplifying and automating work processes, says Johannessen.
"Information shall flow to and from external systems/users and in internal processes with the least possible manual processing. Feedback from our customers is very positive and they are telling us they are saving a great deal of time by having a better overview and less manual operations, which often result in errors and additional work,” he says.
Private Infrastructure benefits:
Documentation of all private systems in one solution.
Overview of who owns and is responsible for systems.
Overview of which properties and buildings are connected to the network and where they are connected.
Support for mapping, establishment, application processing and automatic updating of system archives.
Support for reporting of operational tasks such as inspection, control, sample taking and emptying.
Support for follow-up of deviations in equipment and missing operational reports.
