Grid Data helps the grid companies to obtain a digital overview of where the network is located in purely geographical terms both above and below ground, how the cables are laid in pipes and culverts, how everything is working, and where the various electrical components are located in substations.
“The solution provides a complete model of reality, which every grid company needs to be able to work efficiently,” says the product manager for NETBAS at Powel, Kjetil Kvamme.
In the past, all grid planning was done on paper maps. This work has been digitised and many grid companies in the Nordic region now use NETBAS as a master data system.
“Grid Data is the core of NETBAS. It holds all the data about the supply network run by the grid company. The model is extremely valuable, as a lot of work went into entering all the data into the grid records. So, the grid companies do not often replace this sort of master data system,” says Kvamme.
