An increasing number of businesses in the Swedish construction industry are turning to the Gemini Terrain software package.
“We are seeing a clear increase in use among contractorsespecially by surveyors and survey managers,” says Joakim Jansson, the Director of Powel Construction in Sweden.
The software is used by contractors, designers, and end clients, and Powel is experiencing strong growth outside Norway - especially in Sweden.
30 years on the market
Gemini Terrain is a Norwegian-developed software solution that has been on the market for more than 30 years. This experience has allowed Gemini Terrain to offer significant input to the industry over the long-term. These contributions include providing input in relation to the standard for mass calculation and documentation in Norway.
Powel is part of the Volue Group, which focuses on software development in a range of markets including infrastructure, energy, and the public sector. Volue has a total of 500 employees and annual revenues of NOK 800 million.
“Feedback from our Swedish users shows that they are really satisfied with Gemini Terrain. In particular, they are seeing tremendous benefits in terms of mass calculation and visualisation. They also highlight that it is far easier to create a good structure and ensure traceability within the software. This is especially the case in large and complex projects,” Jansson says.
In the Swedish market, the program has been supplied with all the necessary tools to fulfill requirements stipulated by clients such as the Swedish Transport Administration, municipalities and county councils, as well as private sector operators.
Swedish and international file formats supported
Powel Construction works in partnership with the market’s leading operators on an ongoing basis in order to ensure that the support provided by Gemini Terrain for Swedish and international file formats meets the current needs of those in the industry. Working together with manufacturers of machine control systems and technical measurement equipment has resulted in a wide range of formats that are used in the survey profession being supported by the program.
“Thanks to the fact that we have our own 25-person development team, we are able to be responsive to our customers’ needs and ensure that Gemini Terrain supports the needs of the present-day industry and operators in Sweden,” Jansson summarises.
