Powel will assist Norgesnett in developing the solution so that they gain an overview of what has been cleared and what needs to be cleared. In addition, the solution provides a price estimate for the forest clearance work in both the short and long term.
“We want to have full control and overview of our line clearing. ArcGis is a flexible fundamental platform, and Powel has the expertise needed to adapt the tool to our needs,” says Vidar Kristoffersen, head of the network development department at Norgesnett.
Will optimise line clearance
Network companies operate across large geographical areas that include everything from network components, resources, cadastre, vegetation data and much, much more. Geographical data is a useful aid to provide a better basis for decisions, better communication and to ensure qualitative and efficient processes.
“We want to optimise line clearing so that we experience fewer disruptions due to trees falling over lines. At the same time, we want to reduce our costs,” Kristoffersen says.
Numerous opportunities in the GIS platform
Powel is already busy with the work for Norgesnett.
“The GIS platform has numerous opportunities for analyses, storage and sharing of data. Only your imagination limits which tools and support systems that can be developed for different processes. We’re looking forward to following Norgesnett in its digitisation of forest clearing work,” says Isak Bergset, solution architect ArcGIS at Powel.
