Using the innovative 3D tool Gemini Terrain, survey manager Emil Englund has found that sharing models and visualising the result has become significantly easier.
Englund works for Stenger & Ibsen Construction Sverige AB and has been using Gemini Terrain for three years. The tool is the market leader among entrepreneurs in Norway and is growing fast in Sweden.
“I was working on a project in Norway where our subcontractor used Terrain. I saw the benefits of the tool and contacted Powel to test it in more depth,” he recalls.
After three years as an active superuser of the tool, he is convinced. The software solution makes his job easier.
“I was working on a project in Norway where our subcontractor used Terrain. I saw the benefits of the tool and contacted Powel for a test,” he recalls.
Stenger & Ibsen Construction has recently completed 28 kilometers of road and 33 foundations for the Björkvattnet wind farm. Together, the turbines can generate 175 MW of electricity, which is equivalent to the consumption of around 175,000 households. In such large projects, an efficient data flow is essential.
"We have also adopted the Powel's Gemini Connected Sync solution, making it easy for multiple users to work in the same model. There is also great potential for file transfer to different machine management systems with Connected," he says.
Englund wants to continue to use Gemini Terrain and advises his Swedish colleagues to try out the software.
“There are many things I like about Gemini Terrain. But the biggest improvements for me have been to be able to produce a mass balance for the construction of a crane support base and to adjust the design model,” he concludes.
