Powel will supply Skellefteå with software solutions for transition to direct reading of power consumption to more than 70.000 customers in Sweden.
The move to remote reading of power consumption will begin in 2005 at Skellefteå Kraft Elnät. This is a result of Riksdagen’s resolution to carry out direct reading of all power customers in Sweden by December 2009. Direct reading will apply to households, companies as well as public institutions. With direct reading, customers will be able to monitor their own power consumption on the Internet (similar to managing your bank account on the Internet)
Skellefteå Kraft Elnät AB will purchase Powel’s metering data management system (Powel MDMS) to manage incoming metered readings, installations and use of data for all grid customers. Powel’s metering data management system will support the work processes leading up to installing new power meters. The new solution also secures the quality of the collected measured data to ensure correct invoicing of customers.
Skellefteå Kraft Elnät is today one of the 10 largest grid companies. The the plan is to implement Powel’s solution in the first half of 2005. This marks a new development in Powel’s move toward increased growth in the Swedish market. Market prospects for Powel within metering data management are good and the demand for such solutions is increasing.
