Third Largest Danish Utility Selects Powel Solution

SYD ENERGI chooses Powel to document fiber networks and electricity systems

Trondheim, Norway (09 January, 2007) – Powel ASA, a global utility software solutions company today announced it has, through its Danish distributor KMD Energi, signed a contract with the third largest utility company in Denmark, SYD ENERGI, for delivery of systems for documenting fiber networks and electricity. The contract includes licenses, services and maintenance of more than 3.5 MNOK to Powel ASA.

The delivery of the Powel solution will begin this month and will be implemented in close cooperation between Powel and KMD Energi. The project includes a complete data conversion from all former systems into SYD ENERGI ’s future platform, Powel NetBas.

Powel NetBas complete integrated network information system based on documenting a utility’s power grid. It addresses distribution and transmission requirements including asset management, GIS, analysis, planning, design and construction, maintenance, engineering and real-time operations analysis.

In addition to documenting SYD ENERGI ’s energy systems, the contract includes the first delivery of Powel’s new solution for fiber networks. This solutions includes a certified plug-in for telecom planning and documentation, TeleNet, on Powel’s NetBas network information system. The TeleNet software is supplied by the Danish software company breakoutimage A/S.

“As a professional supplier of both energy and fiber solutions it is of vital importance to utilize effective and integrated solutions for designing, documenting, operating and maintaining our assets, be it electricity or fiber,” says Palle Nygaard Jensen, grid development director at SYD ENERGI.

“We now are seriously deploying fiber throughout our supply area, and we initiated a process to find a common integrated network information system for the entire company,” continued Jensen. “In addition, future fiber network tasks require new documentation functionality.”
