System expected to drive 20-30% in energy savings

(Trondheim, 2006-10-14) Powel ASA and Hafslund Nett AS announced today the two companies have signed a contract to deploy a Powel system that will communicate, maintain, and control Hafslund’s entire streetlight network.

Hafslund Nett has pioneered a two-way streetlight communication system. By curtailing light output dynamically with the Powel Streetlight system, the company will soon be able to realize 20-30% energy savings. The Powel Streetlight system automates maintenance, streamlines coordination with contractors, and allows Hafslund Nett to respond more quickly to public inquiries. With this system, Hafslund Nett can also offer streetlight control and maintenance services to other utilities.

The Powel Streetlight system includes several of Powel’s Operational Resource Planning (ORP) system modules, including maintenance, MDMS, asset management, GIS and Web services. These modules will be combined with Hafslund’s two-way telemetry system to create a complete, cost-effective, and user-friendly solution.
