Trico Electric Cooperative Chooses StakeOut® Technology to Control Costs and Enhance Productivity

ST. PAUL (February 2006) — Powel-MiniMax today announced that Trico Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Marana, Arizona, has selected the StakeOut® technology platform for field operations and work order management. Trico serves 36,000 members and oversees more than 3,000 miles of line in rural and suburban Pima, Pinal, and Santa Cruz counties.

“StakeOut offers the versatile design capabilities we need in the field, and the integration we need with the office,” said Frank Gonzales, supervisor of distribution design for Trico.

In the field, StakeOut automatically generates construction sheets, cost estimates, and materials picklists, enabling Trico to streamline inventory management and control costs. The solution also integrates with AutoCAD, Trico’s existing software for distribution designs.

AutoCAD integration is critical because Trico performs a large amount of subdivision design work in concert with residential developers and contractors. As a result, distribution designs must be created with AutoCAD. Using StakeOut, field crews can access these designs without redrawing maps, which improves ease of use and streamlines workflow.

“For utilities that use AutoCAD software, integration between AutoCAD and field design tools significantly reduces the risk of rework,” said Corey Maple, CEO of Powel-MiniMax. “Without tight integration, moving maps and designs from one application to another requires redrawing, which consumes valuable time and productivity while increasing the risk of errors.”
